Prospecting VS. Marketing – Which Is Best For Finding MLM Leads And Potential Customers?

P

A new sign-up on my network marketing team recently asked me, “Should I focus on prospecting or marketing?”

I felt this was a really good question and worthy of a blog post.

The truth is, many network marketing newbies become confused by all the conflicting guru advice being offered out there. So let me explain the difference between the two.

Prospecting vs Marketing

Prospecting is like fishing with a fishing rod. You are casting a line and reeling in prospects one at a time in a very targeted way. This is a simple-step formula that your downline can easily duplicate.

Marketing is like casting a fishing net to haul in a large number of prospects quickly. Due to the learning curve involved it is more complicated to implement and duplicate. However, it has its advantages. Things can be scaled by buying advertising.

Both of these methods leverage the power of attraction marketing.

You see, you are either branding yourself through producing valuable content that you then inject into the marketplace to give solutions and leave them wanting more….or else, you are positioning yourself as the go-to people expert.

Seriously, you should be doing both of these marketing activities to build your circle of influence. Your main purpose is to always build trust and credibility with your target audience.

Fill Your Sales Pipeline with Better Prospects

A while back I wrote a blog post on using Facebook to generate endless free leads on demand. All the information is available to be found on YouTube if you want to go do your own research.

However, the real value of purchasing a home study course is the personal mentor that comes with it. It makes you focused and highly accountable – one of the ‘keys to success’ in this biz!!

Blogging for Prospects

It is incredibly easy to set up your own hosted WordPress blog on Hostgator [aff link]. Within minutes you can instantly start sharing your message by blogging your story.

And if you think blogging doesn’t work, think again!! Check out these research stats:

Bloggers Get 67% More Leads.

Marketers Who Blog Are 13 Times More Likely To Make A Profit Online.

Blogging Is Cheap! Way Cheaper Than Paid Advertising.

Your Blog Is Working Even When You Are Sleeping Or On Vacation.

Bloggers Get More Links (Search Engine Listings)

Blogs Are Trusted. (More than X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Pinterest!)

As you probably know, there is a steep learning curve to becoming a master blogger. Not just the technical side, but with things like personal branding and how your own authentic voice (YOU.inc) can help you stand out in the crowd.

This is why it is well worth investing in (low-cost) high-value coaching programs to learn new skills that will help you grow your business quicker.

Okay, that’s it for this short prospecting vs marketing post. I hope you got some value out of it. Feel free to reach out with questions or share this post with your friends.

Finding the Best Approach for You

So, which method is better for finding MLM leads and potential customers? Prospecting and marketing are both important, but the best approach for you will depend on your personality, skills, and resources.

If you’re new to network marketing, I recommend starting with prospecting. It’s a simple and straightforward way to generate leads, and it’s something that anyone can do. Once you have a good understanding of prospecting, you can start to incorporate marketing into your strategy.

Marketing can be a great way to reach a larger audience and generate more leads, but it’s important to note that it can also be more complex and time-consuming than prospecting. If you’re not sure where to start, I recommend investing in some training or coaching.

Whatever approach you choose, the most important thing is to be consistent and persistent. It takes time and effort to build a successful network marketing business, but it’s definitely possible with hard work and dedication.
