Hello, it’s Ollie here.
In today’s Success+You podcast I’m going to talk to you about why the grass IS NEVER greener on the other side… the grass is greener where you water it.
But first if you don’t know who I am. My name is Ollie Relfe. I live here in the Southeast of England not far from the coastal city of Brighton & Hove.
I work from home online full-time and are aligned with a Health & Nutrition company.
Like the majority of people who become inspired by network marketing as being an alternative way to make extra income and gain time freedom. I too struggled until I found a better way and acquired new marketing skills.
Now I help other network marketers to create a never-ending stream of hot prospects for their business.
Okay, so that’s enough about me.
Let’s jump right into today’s Success+You podcast where I answer the question…
Is the grass really greener on the other side of the fence?
We often buy into the illusion or unrealistic hope that something other than what we currently have in our life will bring us the sunshine and happiness we crave.
We get sucked into this unrealistic FANTASY that keeps us from focusing on what is REAL, and beneath our feet right now.
When our thoughts are seduced by this fantasy, we stop believing in our current reality.
That which we crave feeds our fantasy, making our belief in this illusion even stronger, and as our discontent grows we abandon what we have and search for what doesn’t exist, and the more we are sucked into the illusion, the more we realize that we should have taken better care of what we have.
I see this in network marketing all the time. People peer over the fence and compare their current business, one that might not be going as expected, with their imagined beautiful idea about how much life will be better on the other side of the fence.
This leads them to start looking for, and focusing on, more and more of the flaws of their current business and invest less time and energy into nurturing its growth, and they wonder why they have ceased making any further progress.
As you might guess, one of three things happen:
1) they stay stuck on the fence, not committed to either side, procrastinating in a state of non-action, but emotionally their mind is at work on the other side of the fence, except they don’t have the will to jump in.
or 2) They neglect their current business and jump over the fence, only to discover that the new life with the new company isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, or what they had envisioned in their mind’s eye.
or 3) They accept their reality and take responsibility for creating their own success. They start watering the grass on their side of the fence by taking daily action, finding things that work, focusing on getting the word out, and in time they realize they have always had what they craved.
But here’s the important part, what you water will grow. What you focus on expands. So, be grateful for what you have, nurture it, and you will realize that the beautiful garden you were wanting is already on your side of the fence.
